| What I Look Like: | |||
| Ginger most closely resembles an Abyssinian, albeit with a slightly stockier build. His fur is their classic ruddy color, and his eyes gold-green and almond-shaped. His forehead has the distinctive "M" marking of a tabby cat, though the fur everywhere else appears to be solid at first glance. The base color is a warm, almost glowing red-copper, with a stripe of darker fur along the spine and a lighter, cream-tinted throat and underside. The ear fluff and whiskers are white, his nose is a light red-pink like a brick, and his tail tip is black. Upon close examination, his fur is not actually solid red but 'ticked' with dark brown and black. Although his fur coat appears short--and it is--it is dense and resilient.
Chosen as a young adult, Ginger is healthy and in his prime. Not as grizzled or scarred as some others (though he does have one on the back of his head where pale skin shows through--the fur never grew back where he was scratched), he is often energetic and seems to radiate cheerfulness. |

| Friendly and outgoing, Ginger is surprisingly good-natured for a cat in a colony of strays fighting to survive. Whether it's sharing food, grooming (well, all right--he does try to avoid Ratpaw sometimes. The sewer smell is just too overwhelming), or showing them the best balconies for sunbathing with a quick escape route, he's happy to help his fellow colony members. He is particularly gentle and respectful toward the elders, and even makes an effort to be nice to Shadowfang sometimes, although he is more often simply tolerated with a resigned kind of humor and a smile that tends to wear thin more often than with others. Kittens tend to wear on his patience more often than not, though Ginger does make an effort to be patient and defends them as he would any other colony member.
Toward outsiders, he is more hesitant, especially if offering aid would take away resources from the colony. But he does not find it easy to refuse them help, and he keeps feeling guilty about it--and then feeling guilty about his own guiltiness. Since being Chosen, Ginger has dreamed of a world where there is enough for all cats: where they don't have to live in fear of dogs or the Winged Death, where survival is not a daily battle but assured, where they could live and laugh freely, sunning themselves and talking with friends without the threat of death looming around every corner. Where the cats will not only survive, but thrive. He thinks he's willing to explore a number of questionably moral ways to make that happen, but it is likely that he simply cannot bring himself to outright cruelty or to harm one of the cats in his colony. (He doesn't like the tiger all that much, either. Although Ginger is in awe of the tiger's size and forever grateful for the safety he provided, he was kind of an asshole the rest of the time.) It may have been partially inspired by Pie's interest in the old pie decal, but Ginger has an odd fascination with the old things in the city. With its history, and with words. Given time, he will want to learn more about the history of the world, especially about the Voice and why and how they were Chosen. It should be noted that Ginger does not particularly care about the difference between hunting Chosen and non-Chosen. Prey is still prey, as far as he's concerned, and the dogs are still a bunch of [that's a bad word Ginger, bad kitty!] that hunted the cats and their children. It'd be a relief if more of them died. However, his curiosity about the nature of the Chosen and about others' experiences does lend prey a degree of protection: as long as he's not starving or anything, he's more likely to want to talk than eat a Chosen mouse. |
